Good rules of thumb:

ALWAYS wear a helmet while biking (not just children!)

Strive to be SEEN: Bright colors, lights, reflective gear

Make NOISE: Wear a whistle; use a bike bell AND announce you're passing on the left

• Leave No Trace (don’t take anything/don’t leave anything)

• Pets must be leashed and waste cleaned up

• Most off-road trails are natural surfaces, which can be uneven/slippery with tripping hazards; wear appropriate footwear

• Bring water, hat, insect repellent (there are ticks!), and a cell phone

• Monitor weather conditions

• Obey traffic laws while on roads

• Cyclists of all ages should wear helmets and reflective clothing

• Observe regulations posted at individual trail locations

• Pets prohibited on Bard College trails and Montgomery Place campus

• Be aware of hunting and trapping schedules in Tivoli Bays area
